Penerapan Strategi Membaca 4S (Skimming, Scanning, Selecting, Skipping) dalam Meningkatkan pemahaman Kemampuan Membaca Siswa Kelas XI SMA
Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas strategi membaca 4S (Skimming, Scanning, Selecting, dan Skipping) dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman bacaan siswa. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada 12 siswa kelas XI yang mengikuti rangkaian kegiatan membaca berdasarkan tahapan strategi 4S. Tahapan tersebut meliputi skimming untuk memperoleh gambaran umum teks, scanning untuk menemukan informasi khusus, selecting untuk menandai bagian penting yang relevan, serta skipping untuk melewati informasi yang dianggap tidak diperlukan. Setelah semua tahap selesai, siswa diberikan tes pemahaman bacaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 11 siswa memperoleh nilai 10 dan satu siswa memperoleh nilai 8, dengan nilai rata-rata 9,8. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa strategi membaca 4S efektif membantu siswa memahami isi bacaan secara lebih cepat, tepat, dan terarah. Dengan demikian, strategi 4S dapat dijadikan alternatif dalam pembelajaran membaca guna meningkatkan pemahaman bacaan siswa.
