Penerapan Daya Tangkap Mahasiswa Baru terhadap Teks Artikel Populer dengan Metode SQ3R
Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana penerapan strategi membaca SQ3R (Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review) dapat membantu mahasiswa memahami isi bacaan berupa artikel populer. Penelitian dilakukan pada mahasiswa baru Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia angkatan 2025 dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Fokus penelitian terletak pada penerapan setiap tahap strategi SQ3R yang meliputi kegiatan meninjau teks, menyusun pertanyaan, membaca secara mendalam, menyampaikan kembali isi bacaan, dan meninjau ulang pemahaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan strategi SQ3R secara berurutan mampu meningkatkan kemampuan memahami isi bacaan. Pada tahap Survey, mahasiswa dapat mengenali topik dan ide pokok bacaan; pada tahap Question, mereka mampu menyusun pertanyaan yang relevan dengan isi teks; pada tahap Read, mahasiswa membaca secara terarah untuk menemukan jawaban; tahap Recite memperlihatkan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam mengungkapkan kembali isi bacaan dengan bahasa sendiri; sedangkan tahap Review membantu memperkuat pemahaman jangka panjang. Meskipun demikian, beberapa mahasiswa masih menghadapi kendala dalam mengingat bagian-bagian tertentu serta mengatur waktu membaca. Secara umum, strategi SQ3R dinilai efektif dalam melatih keterampilan membaca aktif dan mendalam, serta membantu mahasiswa memahami isi bacaan dengan lebih baik.
