Dekonstruksi Makna Bahasa Slang pada Media Sosial TikTok dan X: Kajian Semantik dan Norma Kesantunan Berbahasa
Abstract
The development of information technology and the social media ecosystem (TikTok and X) has triggered a structural transformation in the communication patterns of virtual communities, particularly in the linguistic creativity of the younger generation. This study aims to analyze the forms of cognitive-semantic shifts in nine popular slang vocabulary corpora and examine their sociolinguistic implications on group identity and language politeness norms. The method employed in this study is a qualitative approach with a descriptive type through the study of linguistic literature documentation. The results indicate that the formation of slang language in the digital space undergoes varied semantic shifts, including amelioration, pejoration, lexical generalization, pragmatic inversion, cognitive metaphor, semantic bleaching, and grammaticalization. Sociolinguistically, the use of this slang language functions effectively as an egalitarian and expressive in-group identity marker. However, the phenomenon of semantic bleaching and the desensitization of expletive words also carry negative implications, such as the erosion of moral sensitivity in language and the weakening of teenagers' code-switching abilities in formal communication situations. Therefore, a balance between digital lingual creativity and an understanding of the pragmatic function of language is highly necessary to maintain the existence of standard Indonesian language politeness.
