Perbandingan Unsur Budaya pada Cerita Rakyat Malin Kundang dan Cerita Rakyat Sampuraga
Abstract
Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk membandingkan kisah rakyat Malin Kundang yang berasal dari Minangkabau dengan kisah rakyat Sampuraga yang berasal dari Mandailing. Di samping itu, penelitian ini juga menganalisis dan menguraikan elemen-elemen budaya yang ada dalam kedua kisah rakyat tersebut. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik analisis konten. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa meskipun memiliki tema cerita yang serupa, ada pula perbedaan dalam narasi yang terlihat dari karakter, penamaan karakter, sifat-sifat karakter, dan latar belakang tempat. Perbedaan budaya dipengaruhi oleh latar belakang dua suku yang berbeda, di mana Malin Kundang berasal dari suku Minangkabau, sedangkan Sampuraga berasal dari suku Batak Mandailing. Keduanya memiliki kesamaan dalam tema tentang pengkhianatan terhadap orang tua. Bahasa yang dipakai dalam masing-masing cerita juga berlainan; Malin Kundang menggunakan bahasa Minangkabau, sedangkan Sampuraga memakai bahasa Batak Mandailing.
