Eksplorasi Eksplorasi Nilai Filosofis Rumah Adat Karo dalam Mempertahankan Identitas Budaya Lokal di Era Modernisasi
Abstract
Penelitian ini mengkaji makna dan kelestarian rumah adat Karo (Siwaluh Jabu) sebagai representasi identitas budaya masyarakat Batak Karo di tengah arus globalisasi. Rumah adat Siwaluh Jabu tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai tempat tinggal delapan keluarga, namun juga mencerminkan struktur sosial, sistem kekeluargaan, dan nilai-nilai filosofis seperti gotong-royong, musyawarah, serta toleransi dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Dengan metode kualitatif, data dikumpulkan melalui studi literatur, observasi langsung di kawasan tradisional Karo, serta wawancara dengan tokoh adat dan masyarakat setempat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa setiap ruangan (jabu) memiliki fungsi, aturan, dan makna khusus yang memperkuat tatanan dan interaksi sosial. Namun, modernisasi dan urbanisasi menyebabkan perubahan fisik, fungsi, serta pergeseran nilai budaya di kalangan generasi muda, sehingga mengancam kelestarian rumah adat tersebut. Diperlukan strategi pelestarian yang adaptif dan kolaboratif antara pemerintah, masyarakat adat, dan generasi muda melalui edukasi, revitalisasi budaya, serta perlindungan hukum agar Siwaluh Jabu tetap eksis sebagai warisan budaya dan sumber pembentukan karakter. Temuan ini diharapkan menjadi acuan pelestarian budaya lokal dalam menghadapi tantangan modernisasi.
