Eksploitasi Visual dan Pembungkaman Perempuan: Analisis Feminisme dalam Film Tuhan, Izinkan Aku Berdosa
Abstract
This study aims to describe the subject–object position of women in the film God, Allow Me to Sin Tuhan, Izinkan Aku Berdosadirected by Hanung Bramantyo using Sara Mills’s critical discourse theory. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study method. The primary data were obtained from film scenes and dialogues that portray women’s representation within patriarchal power relations. The analysis was conducted by identifying the role of female characters as subjects or objects through narrative construction, camera perspective, and the use of language in dialogues. The findings reveal that the character of Kiran is represented ambivalently: on the one hand, she becomes an object within an oppressive patriarchal system, experiencing harassment and symbolic violence; on the other hand, she demonstrates limited resistance through actions and expressions that challenge male domination. The film shows that women’s subject–object positions are not fixed, but rather negotiated through social relations, language, and visual narratives. The conclusion of this study confirms that Sara Mills’s theory is effective in uncovering power relations and gender ideology within media texts.
