Analisis Metaforis Lirik Lagu “Gabriela” oleh KATSEYE
Abstract
Metaphor is one of the most important forms of figurative language used to express abstract ideas and emotions through more concrete experiences. In song lyrics, metaphors play a significant role in conveying meaning beyond the literal interpretation of words. This study aims to analyze the metaphorical expressions found in the lyrics of Gabriela by KATSEYE using Lakoff & Johnson Conceptual Metaphor Theory. The research employed a qualitative research method with qualitative content analysis. The data consisted of the lyrical text of Gabriela, collected through documentation and analyzed by identifying, classifying, and interpreting metaphorical expressions based on conceptual metaphor theory. The findings revealed eight metaphorical expressions, consisting of five structural metaphors and three ontological metaphors. The structural metaphors conceptualize abstract experiences such as love, attraction, jealousy, and romantic rivalry through concrete domains including physical force, movement, theater, war, and taste. Meanwhile, the ontological metaphors represent emotions, attention, and affection as objects, agents, or possessions. These findings demonstrate that metaphors function not only as stylistic devices but also as cognitive mechanisms that help listeners understand complex emotional experiences through familiar conceptual domains.
