Analisis Kebutuhan Penghargaan Tokoh Pilar dalam Novel Fallen Petals Karya Pandu Firmansyah: Kajian Psikologi Sastra Abraham Maslow
Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk-bentuk kebutuhan penghargaan (esteem needs) tokoh Pilar dalam novel Fallen Petals karya Pandu Firmansyah serta menganalisis pengaruh pemenuhan dan ketidakpemenuhan kebutuhan tersebut terhadap perkembangan psikologis tokoh berdasarkan teori hierarki kebutuhan Abraham Maslow. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan psikologi sastra. Sumber data penelitian adalah novel Fallen Petals karya Pandu Firmansyah, sedangkan data penelitian berupa narasi, dialog, dan tindakan tokoh yang menunjukkan adanya kebutuhan penghargaan. Data dikumpulkan melalui teknik membaca dan mencatat, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis isi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kebutuhan penghargaan tokoh Pilar diwujudkan melalui empat aspek, yaitu kebutuhan untuk merasa dihargai (feeling valued), rasa percaya diri (self-confidence), pencapaian (achievement), dan pengakuan dari orang lain (recognition). Keempat aspek tersebut mengalami perubahan seiring perkembangan konflik yang dialami tokoh. Pada awalnya, Pilar memperoleh penghormatan, prestasi, kepercayaan diri, dan pengakuan sebagai penulis yang sukses sehingga kebutuhan penghargaan dapat terpenuhi. Namun, menurunnya popularitas, kritik terhadap karya, serta berkurangnya apresiasi dari pembaca menyebabkan kebutuhan tersebut tidak lagi terpenuhi. Kondisi tersebut berdampak pada menurunnya harga diri, kepercayaan diri, motivasi berkarya, serta memunculkan krisis identitas. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kebutuhan penghargaan memiliki peran penting dalam membentuk kondisi psikologis dan perkembangan kepribadian tokoh, sekaligus memperlihatkan relevansi teori Abraham Maslow dalam mengungkap dinamika kejiwaan tokoh dalam karya sastra.
