Analisis Makna Singkatan dalam Komunikasi Digital Mahasiswa: Kajian Semiotika
Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis makna penggunaan singkatan dalam komunikasi digital mahasiswa dengan menggunakan pendekatan semiotika.Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan sumber data berupa percakapan mahasiswa pada aplikasi WhatsApp.Data dikumpulkan melalui teknik observasi dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan konsep tanda dari Ferdinand de Saussure (penanda dan petanda) serta makna denotatif dan konotatif menurut Roland Barthes.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan singkatan dalam komunikasi digital tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai bentuk efisiensi bahasa, tetapi juga memiliki fungsi sosial, emosional, dan pengatur alur komunikasi.Singkatan seperti g, jls, kln, gws, btw, dan otw tidak selalu dimaknai secara literal, melainkan mengalami perluasan makna sesuai dengan konteks penggunaannya. Selain itu, penggunaan singkatan juga mencerminkan adanya pencampuran bahasa Indonesia dan Inggris sebagai dampak dari budaya digital. Dengan demikian, makna singkatan dalam komunikasi digital bersifat dinamis dan kontekstual, sehingga pemahamannya tidak dapat dilepaskan dari situasi komunikasi dan hubungan antarpenutur.
