Metode Membaca SQ3R Sebagai Strategi Inovatif Dalam Meningkatkan Keterampilan Membaca Cerpen Siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas
Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penerapan dan keefektifan metode membaca SQ3R (Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review) dalam meningkatkan kemampuan memahami teks cerpen pada siswa kelas XI SMK Negeri 3 Kota Tasikmalaya. Latar belakang penelitian ini berangkat dari rendahnya kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa yang cenderung membaca secara sekilas tanpa memahami makna dan pesan dalam bacaan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan subjek sebanyak 21 siswa yang dipilih secara purposive. Data diperoleh melalui observasi dan dokumentasi selama proses pembelajaran membaca cerpen berjudul “Rumah di Balik Pagar Besi.” Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode SQ3R cukup efektif dalam membantu siswa memahami isi teks secara mendalam. Siswa menjadi lebih aktif dalam menyusun pertanyaan, menceritakan kembali isi cerpen dengan bahasa sendiri, serta mampu menarik makna dan nilai moral dari teks. Selain itu, penggunaan metode SQ3R juga melatih kemampuan berpikir kritis dan meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa selama proses membaca. Namun, metode ini memiliki kelemahan dalam hal durasi karena membutuhkan waktu yang relatif lama sehingga kurang sesuai diterapkan dalam kondisi pembelajaran dengan waktu terbatas, seperti ujian. Secara keseluruhan, metode SQ3R dapat direkomendasikan sebagai alternatif strategi pembelajaran membaca yang efektif, interaktif, dan berorientasi pada pemahaman mendalam terhadap teks sastra.
