Penggunaan Acronyms dalam Komunitas Mobile Legends Indonesia
Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis penggunaan akronim sebagai neologisme dalam komunitas game Mobile Legends di Indonesia, dengan menerapkan teori Newmark (1988). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi dan dokumentasi komunikasi selama bermain game serta interaksi di media sosial dalam komunitas game Indonesia. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan kerangka prosedur penerjemahan Newmark. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa pemain Mobile Legends Indonesia secara ekstensif menciptakan dan menggunakan akronim sebagai bentuk adaptasi linguistik, dengan akronim yang teridentifikasi mengikuti prosedur transferensi Newmark, di mana terminologi game bahasa Inggris dipinjam dan disingkat secara langsung ke dalam wacana game Indonesia. Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi 10 akronim unik yang dikategorikan menjadi tiga jenis utama: akronim berbasis keterampilan, singkatan item, dan akronim meta-game wilayah. Melalui proses naturalisasi Newmark, akronim-akronim ini mengalami adaptasi fonologis dan morfologis agar sesuai dengan pola linguistik Indonesia dengan tetap mempertahankan makna semantik aslinya. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pembentukan neologisme akronim dalam komunitas game berfungsi sebagai jembatan budaya, memfasilitasi komunikasi cepat sekaligus mempertahankan terminologi game internasional. Fenomena linguistik ini mencerminkan evolusi bahasa yang dinamis di ruang digital dan menyoroti peran penting teori penerjemahan dalam memahami pola komunikasi kontemporer dalam komunitas wacana tertentu.
